September is ending, which also means Christmas is more or less 3 months away. As with every year’s Christmas celebration, admiring the iconic Orchard Road Christmas lights is definitely a must-do for almost everyone.
This year, the streets of Orchard will continue to bask in the glittering glow of Christmas lights, as per the tradition of Orchard Road Business Association.
In a special preview ceremony on Wednesday (25 Sep), the association revealed that this year’s Light-Up Ceremony, themed “The Greatest Gift”, will run from 16 Nov to 1 Jan 2020.
Here are more pictures of what you can expect at Orchard’s glimmering precinct this year.
If you walk along Tanglin, Orchard and Somerset, you won’t miss these lamp post decorations that feature little Santa baubles, gift boxes, and snowflakes.
Unique to this year’s theme, there will be a welcome arch featuring gigantic gift boxes at the junction between Tanglin and Grange Road.
The arch leads you towards Grange Road, where the Christmas light-ups will be extended to for the first time in history.
As you drive along Orchard Road, you can also admire lit pyramids of baubles, snowflakes, and gift boxes shaped like Christmas trees. They’re separated into 3 zones, as seen below.
However, if you’d like to get an up-close and personal shot with the Christmas light-ups, you can do so with the giant set pieces along Orchard Road sidewalks.
Look out for interactive giant displays along the pavements of Orchard Road. Here are some of them, complete with suggested poses, that could inspire you before your trip.
If you’re visiting the light show with your other half, it’s good idea to commemorate your date by taking a picture with little Santas seemingly holding up heart-shaped lights.
Or you can even take a wefie with your group of friends as mini Santas hold up a selfie stick for you.
You can also take a family portrait against good ol’ Santa and his trusty reindeer.
What better way to end the photo-taking session than to have a picture of you helping Santa pull his ‘lazy’ reindeer.
If that isn’t enough, know that your night doesn’t end here.
An event highlight, the Great Christmas Village will be held at 3 locations this year instead of 1.
The venues are:
This year’s event is held from 23 Nov to 26 Dec. There’ll be more than 30 amusement rides and game booths — a massive upgrade from 4 previously.
