Orchard Road’s Uncle Chieng Is Giving Everyone Free Ice Cream Till 29 Sep

Download Hugo App & Get Free Ice Cream From Uncle Chieng

There are few things as quintessentially Singaporean as the shared memory of queueing up at our beloved ice cream uncle’s cart, eagerly waiting to get our hands on some ice cream sandwiches.

Uncle Chieng is a familiar name to many who often patronise the ice cream carts along Orchard Road.

If you’ve been missing his irreplaceable sandwiches, we have news for you.

Uncle Chieng is collaborating with Singapore’s first Wealthcare® app Hugo to give out free ice creams to everyone.

Free ice cream at Orchard from now till 29 Sep

What’s better than a good ol’ ice cream sandwich on a warm day? A free ice cream sandwich.

Until 29 Sep, Uncle Chieng, who stations his ice cream cart outside of Ngee Ann City, will be giving out free ice cream.

This is a collaboration with the newly launched financial app, Hugo.

Hugo and Uncle Chieng will be offering Singapore residents up to 200 scoops of ice cream per day for free on a first-come-first-served basis.

To qualify for this giveaway, all you have to do is be a Hugo app user. Existing users can claim their free ice cream by filling up a form on the Hugo app.

New users can also scan the QR code on Uncle Chieng’s cart, download the app and show it to Uncle Chieng.

Hugo hopes to garner support for Uncle Chieng

For every ice cream given out, Hugo will be compensating Uncle Chieng accordingly.

Speaking with MS News, a Hugo representative shared that they chose to work with Uncle Chieng as he is one of our local icons.

For years, he’s been putting a smile on people’s faces through his $1.20 ice creams.

However, the pandemic has hit ice-cream sellers like Uncle Chieng hard.

They hope that this campaign can bring more awareness and help garner support for Uncle Chieng while empowering the public with the know-how on smart financial planning.

Enjoyment does not have to be an exorbitant affair

Beyond that, the folks behind Hugo hope to gift the public a dose of positivity with free ice creams amidst the tough times brought on by Covid-19.

At the same time, they want to show that simple pleasures like ice cream can bring happiness—enjoyment does not always need to be an exorbitant affair.

The Hugo app believes in helping users spend, save, and invest, starting with gold.

Working with Uncle Chieng, they hope to walk the talk themselves by helping ice cream enthusiasts save some money.

After all, the pandemic has shown us just how important saving up for a rainy day can be.

Jio your friends & show your support

Ice cream uncles like Uncle Chieng are a significant part of Singaporeans’ lives. These days, however, it’s a tough business and such carts are becoming a rarer sight.

Kudos to Hugo for launching this initiative to support Uncle Chieng while bringing happiness to the public.

Do note that each person can only claim 1 free ice cream at the cart. So why not jio your friends along for a good time?
