The People’s Action Party (PAP) recently announced their appointment of Marcus Loh as Sengkang East’s new Branch Chairperson.
He will be taking over from outgoing Branch Chairperson Ling Weihong from next Wednesday (1 Nov). In addition, Mr Loh will also be joining the PAP’s Sengkang GRC team.
A party activist since 2015, the 40-year-old is currently a director at Temus — a start-up established by Temasek.
Mr Loh is also involved in several organisations, including the National Volunteers & Philanthropy Centre’s Company of Good and the Singapore University of Social Sciences Industry Advisory Committee.
PAP announced Mr Loh’s appointment as Chairperson of the party’s Sengkang East division in a press release on Thursday (26 Oct).
The move will take effect from next Wednesday (1 Nov). Loh will be replacing outgoing Branch Chairperson Ling Weihong.
Loh will also be joining the following Branch Chairpersons to form PAP’s Sengkang GRC team:
Dr Lam held over from the previous team while the other two Chairpersons — as well as Mr Ling — joined the Sengkang GRC team in 2022.
The PAP stated that Mr Loh served actively in the party since 2015, including as a council member for the PAP Policy Forum.
They appraised him as someone who’s “deeply committed to a meritocratic society that values diverse abilities and offers second chances”. In 2022, he and others spearheaded a digital career conversion programme to help transition people into tech careers, even without IT experience.
Mr Loh’s LinkedIn profile reveals a fairly impressive record of roles.
He is currently a director at Temus, a start-up established by Temasek. There, he heads strategic communication, public affairs, and corporate marketing.
The 40-year-old also holds the position of Alumni Philanthropy Council member at Singapore Management University (SMU). On top of that, he is an Advisory Board Member at a school in the Singapore University of Social Sciences.
In terms of education, Mr Loh holds Master of Science degrees from the Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School and SMU.
He also earned a Bachelor of Communication at the Edith Cowan University.
