There are plenty of rules to abide by on the road (for good reason), but perhaps the most important one is to actually drive on the road.
One van driver didn’t appear to get that memo and ended up on a footpath instead.
Nearby residents captured footage showing the van slammed into a tree trunk, while two paramedics tried to assess the situation.
Police suspect the van driver of being intoxicated.
He then attempted to flee but didn’t get far before officers subdued and apprehended him.
The video, which was uploaded on the @sgfollowsall Instagram page, shows the incident from two different camera angles.
According to 8world News, it took place on Wednesday (25 Oct) at around 4am at the junction between Pasir Ris Drive 3 and 4.
A white van had driven over the kerb and onto a pedestrian footpath.
It then crashed straight into a tree, visibly denting its bumper.
An ambulance later arrived on the scene, with three paramedics checking on those involved.
Thankfully, no one was injured, probably due to the lack of other cars and pedestrians at such an early hour.
The police arrived next and suspected the 26-year-old van driver of drink driving. He then apparently attempted to flee the scene.
Quickly, a police officer grabbed him by the arm and dragged him to the ground.
They arrested him under suspicion of drink driving. Investigations are currently ongoing.
Earlier this year, police arrested a man for drink driving in Thomson following a chase.
