Peafowls discovered on 16th-floor rooftop in Balestier

A Balestier resident recently came across two peafowls on his 16-floor condominium rooftop and was baffled about how they ended up there.

On Thursday (28 Nov), the resident named Craig Wylie shared photos and a video in the Singapore Wildlife Sightings Facebook group, showing the two peafowls roaming on the rooftop.

“Surprisingly found these two peafowls on our rooftop this morning. Didn’t think they would fly to this height,” reads the accompanying caption.

The video also showed both peafowls leisurely pecking at seeds.

Speaking to MS News, Craig said he spotted one of the peafowls on top of the fire staircase leading to the roof the night before.

Though he found the sighting odd, he proceeded to bed soon after.

The next morning, he headed to the roof to ensure the bird wasn’t stuck or injured. It was then that he discovered the second bird.

He shared that the birds appeared “content” while exploring the area and nibbling on various plants.

Despite his presence, the birds were not disturbed. Craig also made sure to remain unobtrusive, allowing them to continue enjoying their stay until they flew off at about 12.30pm.
