Animal cruelty is well and alive in Singapore, unfortunately, as a welfare group found.
On Friday (28 Feb), the Animal Concerns Research and Education Society (ACRES) found 2 pigeons with darts stuck inside their bodies.
This heartbreaking discovery occurred at block 864 Jurong West Street 81.
ACRES learned of what was happening from a tip-off and managed to rescue a rock pigeon who had darts stuck in its body.
They found another pigeon in a similar condition in Jurong, but it flew away before they could rescue it.
ACRES determined that the darts found in their bodies were blow gun darts and shot from either a blow pipe or dart gun.
This means that someone was in possession of such a weapon and was cruel enough to target animals.
Thankfully, the pigeon ACRES rescued is currently recovering, and they reported that the darts will be removed safely.
A search on Carousell revealed no evidence that a buyer could have obtained their blow gun darts there.

Regardless, ACRES called on the regulation of such items, which can potentially cause harm not only to animals but also other humans.
They clarified that blow pipes are permissible to buy, but not allowed in public.
Basically, they can be displayed at home, but if you carry them in public, you may be charged.
ACRES ended the post informing that a police report has been made.
They also urged the public with any useful information to contact them by email at acrescrime@gmail.com.
Animal abuse on this level is certainly a crime and we hope the culprit will be caught soon. There’s no telling who else might be harmed.
