Poodle with severely overgrown nails & matted fur found wandering in Bedok North, SPCA seeking information

Injured & neglected poodle found wandering Bedok North corridor

On 13 Oct, a female poodle was found wandering the corridors of the 11th floor of Blk 134 Bedok North Street 2.

The canine suffered from overgrown nails that had curved and began digging into its paws. It also had severely matted fur on all its limbs.

The Singapore Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is treating it as a case of neglect and abandonment, it said in an Instagram post.

A resident had first found the poodle and began knocking on doors in an attempt to locate its owner. However, they eventually brought the canine to the SPCA after their efforts were unsuccessful.

The poodle is receiving care from SPCA’s vets at present.

Additionally, SPCA has also reported the case to the authorities for further investigation.

Appealing to public for information

SPCA is appealing to the public for more information about the poodle and its owner. The animal welfare organisation noted that it “does not have the legal authority to request CCTV footage”.

“And even if footage is retrieved from nearby cameras, the process can take time, and there is a possibility it may not reveal anything conclusive,” said SPCA in the post.

“If you have any information, witnessed anything unusual on the afternoon of 13 October 2024, or know someone who may have relevant details, we urge you to come forward.”

SPCA can be reached through a hotline at 6287 5355 (ext. 9) or via email at inspector@spca.org.sg.
