Two teenagers in Yishun recently took a prank too far when they allegedly used a fake gun to scare a cashier.
Thankfully, officers from the Woodlands Police Division identified the suspects and arrested them within three hours.
The teenagers, who’re both 16 years old, were taken into custody for their involvement in the alleged case of Criminal Intimidation.
In a Facebook post shared on Tuesday (18 Apr), SPF said they received a call for assistance from a shop along Yishun Street 22 at about 7.04am on Monday (17 Apr).

One of the boys, clad in a black shirt and pants, apparently took out a fake gun and pointed it towards the cashier after the latter scanned his item for payment.

Meanwhile, the second team allegedly filmed the incident as it was taking place.

The boys purportedly laughed when they heard the staff member shouting. They then revealed that the gun was fake.
After receiving the report, officers from Woodlands Police Division identified both boys through closed-circuit television footage and ground enquiries.

They successfully arrested the teenagers within three hours of the report.
The police arrested the pair for their suspected involvement in Criminal Intimidation. They seized the boys’ toy gun, attire, and the handphone used for recording the prank.
Preliminary investigations found that the 16-year-olds hatched the plan to scare the staff “for fun”.
SPF said in their post that they have “zero tolerance towards such acts that cause unnecessary alarm towards the general public.”
