As far as ready-made pasta sauces go, those from Prego are probably the most popular among Singaporeans.
However, those who recently bought carbonara sauce from the brand should take note of a recent development.
On Thursday (22 Dec), the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) issued an advisory regarding the detection of spoilage in a batch of Prego Carbonara Mushroom Pasta Sauce.
SFA has since issued a recall of the affected products, which may show signs of spoilage like unpleasant smell and unusual colour.
According to SFA, spoilage was detected in a batch of Prego Carbonara Mushroom Pasta Sauce (665g), apparently as a result of a manufacturing error.
The batch in question may exhibit the following signs:
The batch carries the lot number “2022081716” and lists “Malaysia” as the country of origin.
The production date is 17 Aug 2022, while the expiry date is 17 Aug 2023.
However, SFA specified that only those with production timings between 10.18pm and 11.20pm on 17 Aug 2022 are affected.
Customers may find these information on the lid of the pasta sauce bottle.
SFA has instructed the importer of the product to carry out a recall. The recall is currently ongoing.
They urge consumers not to purchase or consume the products. Should they feel unwell, they must seek immediate medical attention.
