From the countless volunteer organisations to regular food drives, there’s no doubt that Singaporeans are quite a generous bunch.
But a Singaporean couple who just contributed $2 million to a humanitarian cause in Nigeria is now in the spotlight.
The sum earned them a luxurious experience like no other, which made the news in the United Kingdom (UK), in an article by the Daily Mail.
Complaining about your $5 plate of chicken rice sounds like peanuts compared to what this couple forked out for dinner.
According to the Daily Mail, Mr and Mrs Vincent and Jane Hee spent $2 million on an 18-course meal.

Having the entire experience in one place is, of course, boring.
Instead, the couple will be dining at different locations throughout the evening, ending with a hotel stay and a private flight.
They’ll kick off the experience with an intimate dinner at rooftop restaurant 1-V:U, before retreating to their room at the Outpost Hotel.
Over 10,000 roses will adorn their room for an extra romantic ambiance.
The lavish affair continues the next day, where they will sail across Singapore waters on a luxury yacht.
The Rolls-Royce that will be chauffeuring them around will then take them to Seletar Airport, where the car can drive directly onto the tarmac.
The first and last time that happened was when then American President Barack Obama came to visit.
The airport is where the $50 million Bombardier Global 6000 private jet will await, with fancy gifts and a master chef on board.

The Hees will sip on Dom Pérignon and Krug Champagnes while chef Kirk Westaway prepares their extravagant 18-course dinner. Mr Westaway is a chef at one-Michelin-star restuarant Jaan, located at Swissôtel The Stamford.
As they tuck into their meal, they’ll receive two very opulent gifts, according to the Daily Mail:
With all that grandeur, they’d probably be so giddy with happiness while cruising 12,190 meters (40,000 feet) above ground.
Lucky for them, they can wear the excitement off after landing, as they end the night in a presidential suite at Raffles Hotel.
Before you pass your judgement, all this pish posh isn’t for selfish reasons.
The Daily Mail reported that the $2 million dollar the couple spent will go to “Danish humanitarian organisation DINNødhjælp, which helps to eradicate child mortality from pneumonia in Nigeria.”
Philanthropist Karan Tilani, the director of the World of Diamonds Group, had arranged the entire package to reward the donors for their generosity.
For $2 million dollars, this really looks like something beyond many of our wildest dreams.
We hope the Hees will be fully contented, especially knowing that the money will help countless children all the way in Nigeria.
