A Malaysian man was sentenced to a month’s jail on Monday (28 Oct) after he punched his wife.
The 28-year-old had allegedly punched his wife in a car after she asked him to pull over to buy food.
According to the New Straits Times (NST), the police received a report from a female doctor claiming she was assaulted by her husband.
This reportedly happened after she asked him to stop the car and grab some food.
The man paid no heed to her request, and an argument soon ensued.
However, the argument soon turned physical as the husband punched her wife six times on her right arm.
The man was sentenced to a month’s jail after pleading guilty to voluntarily causing hurt.
The 28-year-old, who was unrepresented, appeared emotional in court as he pleaded for a lighter sentence:
I still love my wife and my child. After 40 months (sic) of being in custody, I want to see them. I can no longer bear staying in jail.
Since the sentence commenced on the day of arrest on 20 Sept, the man was released during the court hearing on Monday (28 Oct).
