New footage has revealed the horrifying chain of events behind the fatal Punggol crash that claimed the life of a 50-year-old off-duty Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officer.
The incident, which took place at the junction of Punggol Way and Sumang Link on the morning of 12 Aug, shows the motorcyclist apparently running a red light before colliding with two vans in rapid succession, both of which appeared to be turning at high speed.

In dashcam footage circulating online, the motorcycle can be seen travelling at high speed towards the junction.
It first slams into a black van that was making a discretionary right turn.
The violent impact sends the bike careening sideways, straight into a white van following close behind, also turning quickly.

The collision with the white van caused the bike to skid onto the road.
After the bike successively hit both vans, the white van appears to go over a raised bump on the road — possibly involving the fallen rider — though the exact details are unclear from the footage.

The motorcyclist, an SCDF officer, was pronounced dead at the scene. His 15-year-old pillion passenger, who was found conscious, was rushed to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Photos of the accident’s aftermath showed a blue police tent standing next to the overturned motorcycle, while a white sheet was held up beside one of the vans to block the public’s view.

SCDF has expressed its deepest condolences to the victim’s family and confirmed that they are providing support during this difficult period.
Meanwhile, the two male van drivers — aged 40 and 54 — are cooperating in the ongoing investigation, police told MS News.
