Kiddos Paste Rainbows On HDB Window To Thank Migrant Workers, Their Sincerity Melts Our Hearts

Kiddos Paste Rainbows At HDB Flat To Thank Migrant Workers

Working from home may be our new normal, but migrant workers striving to make an honest living in Singapore have had to get used to the alternative for years on end to support their families back home.

With Covid-19 infections rising among workers’ dormitories, a few children living in the heartlands have decided to spread some cheer amid the health crisis on Sunday (19 Apr).

We summarise this heartwarming story shared by an MS News reader below.

Kiddos cheer for our frontline workers

An MS News reader spotted her friend’s heartfelt Instagram post on Sunday evening (19 Apr).

The post depicted her pair of adorable children’s creative ‘Thank You’ messages dedicated to healthcare workers, migrant workers & delivery service personnel outside their HDB flat.

Handmade rainbows to brighten our Sunday

In the meaningful series of pictures, we observed a set of twin rainbows – painstakingly coloured in by hand – adorning the walls & grilles on their HDB flat unit.

The children also worked on lettering a large “THANK YOU” message, pasting it right below the rainbows — directed at the following people:

  • Health workers
  • Migrant workers
  • “Delivery service people”

Add to that the wistful gazes of kiddos who simply hope their message is seen by the people they’re sending it to.

If that doesn’t make you go ‘awww’ we don’t know what will.

What inspired this project?

From the OP, we gather that the family’s intention was to express their gratitude to all workers in essential service sectors.

The message goes out to everyone who has helped the nation build our HDB flats, as well as frontline staff combating the virus daily.

In the words of the OP,

At the end of the day, we’re all in this together. Thanks for your sacrifices 🙂 ❤️❤️❤️

Meaningful projects for the kiddos

Since the entire fam is home 24/7, you may be looking for ways to keep your kiddos or grandchildren occupied.

We think this is a wonderful way to teach the young ones about the Covid-19 health crisis while bringing cheer to the community. A rainbow after this storm is what we’re all praying for as well.
