Indian tycoon Ratan Tata leaves large part of wealth to his dog

Former chairman of Tata group, millionaire Ratan Tata is leaving behind a large part of his wealth to his dog Tito.

The tycoon, who passed away earlier this month on 9 Oct at age 86, was well-known for his love for animals, especially his German Shepherd.

Included his beloved German Shepherd in his will

According to the Daily Mail, Mr Tata is leaving a sizable portion of his S$130 million for his beloved canine. This is so Tito can receive “unlimited care” after Mr Tata’s passing.

Mr Tata, who was never married nor had children, divided his fortune among his most trusted aides and his pet dog.

His butler Konar Subbiah and his cook Rajan Shaw are both receiving a generous portion of his wealth. Mr Tata has also instructed that they will be the ones to take care of Tito.

Both men, who are in their 50s, will reportedly never have to work ever again with the amount they have received.

Meanwhile, Mr Tata’s siblings will only inherit a part of his estate.

Mr Tata’s love of animals was well-known

For many who knew the man, the generosity he extended to his dog was no surprise.

Bombay House, Tata Group’s headquarters in Mumbai, has a policy where they will openly welcome strays. Mr Tata instructed the doormen at the headquarters to never turn away an animal.

They were also told to feed the strays, according to the Times of India.

In 2018, the man reportedly cancelled an appointment with Prince Charles, so that he could take care of his ailing pup.

Mr Tata is often credited with turning Tata Group into the titan it is today. The conglomerate currently owns India’s largest car company and steel company.
