5 reasons to visit Parkway Parade, from exclusive dishes to exciting promotions

Shopping malls are where memories are made. As a kid, you probably went there for a fast food treat after acing your exams. Then, they became your squad’s default hangout spot, and even where you had your first date.

If you grew up in the east, that place was likely Parkway Parade, one of Singapore’s first major malls, and still a beloved landmark.

Despite its OG status, it keeps evolving with fresh and exciting offerings for both young and old. New shops are always popping up, and there’s even an MRT station right next door now.

Read on to find out why you should plan a trip to Parkway Parade with your friends and fam ASAP.

It has the only Venchi & Godmama outlets in the east

Hey easties, you no longer need to trek all the way to town for a taste of Venchi’s delizioso gelato or Godmama’s comforting Peranakan fare. These beloved spots have set up shop in Parkway Parade, marking their only outlets on that side of the island.

That’s not all — they’re serving up exclusive treats you won’t find anywhere else.

First off, Venchi Parkway Parade boasts Singapore’s only Chocoviar wall featuring all seven flavours of the Italian chocolatier’s delightful chocolate caviar, which is practically screaming to be your next Instagram backdrop.

It’s also got a strong gelato game with 16 different flavours — one of the widest selections in Singapore — to satisfy every taste bud. Prices start from S$11 for a Gelato Plain Cup or Cone.

And since the Mid-Autumn Festival is around the corner, don’t forget to grab Venchi’s artistic chocolate mooncakes.

The packaging, inspired by the renowned Italian painter Giacomo Balla, is sure to impress your friends and colleagues.

Over at Godmama’s Parkway Parade restaurant, you can dive into its exclusive Crayfish Nyonya Mee.

Think noodles stir-fried in a rich stock of prawns, chicken, and pork for that delicious wok hei, topped with crayfish, pork belly, and a plethora of sumptuous ingredients. Our mouths are watering just thinking about it.

Pair your meal with a Peranakan Blue cocktail, crafted with Brass Lion Distillery’s Butterfly Pea Gin, which will hit the spot.

For dessert, indulge in the Gingerflower & Lychee Sorbet — made with ice cream from Apiary — as a refreshing treat to beat the sweltering weather.

Venchi is located at #01-07/08 and opens from 11am to 10pm daily.

Godmama is located at #01-69A/K5/K6 and opens from 10am to 10pm daily.

Parkway Parade now more accessible with Marine Parade MRT station

Just a little over a month ago, getting to Parkway Parade meant driving, catching a bus, or calling a ride-hailing service.

But now, with the Thomson-East Coast Line 4 (TEL4), we can zip straight to Marine Parade MRT station, right at the mall’s doorstep.

Let’s do a quick comparison: if you’re coming from Orchard, the TEL4 will whisk you to Parkway Parade in under half an hour (and at a fraction of the cost of a cab ride).

Compare that to nearly 50 minutes by bus — and that’s not even counting the wait and the walk. Talk about a speedy upgrade.

Time to plan a trip to Parkway Parade

While we’ve only narrowed it down to five, the truth is that there are plenty more reasons to visit Parkway Parade, which has everything you need in a sprawling multi-level complex in the picturesque Marine Parade neighbourhood.

Need groceries? You have both CS Fresh and FairPrice Xtra to browse. MUJI and Daiso offer a shopping experience straight from the Land of the Rising Sun, while a variety of medical, dental, and beauty services will have you feeling and looking your best.

There’s really loads to see so it’s time to start planning your trip there:

Human beings are always told it’s never too late to reinvent ourselves, and apparently, that goes for malls, too, even the ones that have been around longer than some of us.

These places blend the nostalgia of yesteryear with the modernity of today, making them more than just shopping centres — they’re where old memories are cherished and new ones are made.
