Ministry Of Education Suspends Assemblies & Large Group Gatherings In All Singapore Schools & Pre-Schools

Following the latest shocking development of the Wuhan virus outbreak in Singapore, Ministry of Education (MOE) is leaving nothing to chance.

They’re calling off all assemblies, mass celebrations, camps, and other large-scale group activities starting tomorrow (5 Feb).

This comes after Singapore confirms 4 new cases of local transmissions on Tuesday (4 Feb), reports The Straits Times.

Singapore schools & pre-schools to cancel assemblies & large group activities

According to The Straits Times on Tuesday (4 Feb), the move to cancel all large-scale gatherings will be put into effect across:

  • Primary and secondary schools
  • Special education schools
  • Junior colleges
  • Millennia Institute.

In the meantime, students may be taking breaks in different batches, as recess times are to be staggered.

Students get the green light to go ahead with co-curricular activities and after-school programmes, but only in smaller groups.

Other efforts to curb spread of Wuhan virus in schools

This latest announcement will surely come as a slight relief to parents, as many are concerned with their children’s health and safety amidst a viral outbreak.

MOE has assured that they would continue to carry out health checks and temperature screening for schoolchildren, staff, and visitors.

To everyone else who are concerned, do remember to keep to this hygiene advisory.

You might want to avoid crowded places as much as you can too.
