Scoot Offers Cheaper Flights To All Passengers Because No More Processing Fees

No Processing Fees Mean Cheaper Flights On Scoot

Have you ever felt excited over a super great deal, only to be let down by pesky processing fees like a $20 charge for credit card payments?

Good news for online buyers, Scoot announced on Monday (23 Sep) that from now on, all bookings made on their direct channels will no longer bear extra processing fees.

According to the airline, the change “[aligns] with its vision since inception of making travel attainable for all”. Yay for cheaper flights!

Better technology reduces processing fees for Scoot

Before the removal of fees, Singapore customers who paid for tickets using PayPal or certain credit cards had to pay S$10 per passenger, per payment, according to a report by CNA.

With better payment technology today, maintenance of the payment infrastructure has become cheaper, therefore making fares cheaper too.

Scoot’s CEO, Mr Lee Lik Hsin, also added that they listened to customers’ feedback and took the opportunity to improve customer experience.

On the outcome of the price adjustment, Scoot hopes that customers will find travelling with them more valuable.

Gradually removed fees since Mar 2018

Scoot started removing payment fees in Europe in Mar 2018.

They then started removing fees from other markets, such as the $6 AXS fee for Singaporean customers in August this year.

Scoot offers a wide variety of global payment methods like credit cards and PayPal, as well as local payment methods like AXS and PayNow.

New deals start tomorrow

What better way is there to celebrate than to book a flight?

If you want to take advantage of the new ‘discounts’, now’s the time to start planning your year-end getaway with your family.

Bon voyage!
