Secretlab Looks To Hire More Than 100 Staff, Especially Engineers & Designers

Secretlab To Hire Over 100 Staff As They Settle Into New Headquarters At Braddell

Some of Singapore’s homegrown companies have made great headways globally in recent years. One of them is gaming chair manufacturer Secretlab.

Speaking to members of the media at Secretlab’s new global headquarters, co-founder Alaric Choo shared that the company is looking to hire over 100 new staff.

They are especially keen on filling engineering and designer positions.

Plans to continue investments to boost business

Earlier in May, Secretlab moved into their new office along Braddell Road, which will also house their R&D lab.

Speaking about the move, the co-founders said it was necessary for the business as they grew and needed more space and staff.

They added that setting up a headquarters here also cements their place as a proud Singaporean brand.

Co-founder Mr Ang said Secretlab has invested $10 million in their new space and will continue to invest $50 million over the next few years.

This will go into research and development that will help boost their product development and innovation capabilities.

Secretlab to hire 100 staff, largely engineers and designers

As they expand, Secretlab is looking to hire over 100 more staff, said co-founder and chief strategy officer, Mr Choo.

Of these, around 80 positions they are looking to fill are for engineers and designers.

They will also be looking to hire for marketing, global operations, and customer service officer roles. Mr Choo elaborated that most of these positions will be based in Singapore.

However, some may have to spend about 90% of their time in China, where a Secretlab factory is at.

There are currently about 200 employees at Secretlab.

Minister Gan Kim Yong visits Secretlab office

Founded in 2014 by Alaric Choo and Ian Ang, Secretlab has become one of the most recognised gaming chair brands globally.

The company currently makes about 1 million chairs a year, selling them in over 60 countries, reported The Straits Times (ST).

On Tuesday (31 Aug), Trade and Industry Minister Gan Kim Yong visited the new Secretlab office.

During the visit, Minister Gan emphasised the need for local firms to innovate to remain relevant, grow, and eventually go global.

He praised Secretlab’s innovations that allowed them to meet customers’ evolving demands and stay ahead of the competition.

Minister Gan also added that the pandemic has presented Singapore companies with an opportunity for overseas expansion.

Elaborating, he said that because everyone faces challenges during the pandemic, it can also turn into opportunities.

Minister Gan shared that the Government is committed to supporting local companies.

Noting that there are countless schemes available, he adds that they are also prepared to work individually with companies to tailor schemes to suit the unique needs of each business.

Heartening to see local companies grow

It is heartening to see local companies growing and expanding, especially amidst the challenging times of the pandemic.

Congratulations to Secretlab on the opening of their new headquarters.

Hopefully, with the new space, we will see the company reach even greater heights in the years to come.
