Sentosa Sandsation Brings You 20 Star Wars Sand Sculptures

Sentosa Sandsation is back again, and this year, it’s Star Wars-themed with over 20 larger than life sand exhibits. And If preview pictures are anything to go by, this is a must-go for all Star Wars fans from across the galaxy.

Here’s a sneak peek at what you can expect.

1. R2-D2, C-3PO and BB-8

Droids in the Star Wars universe may lack human consciousness, but they certainly more than make up for it with their hilarious and adorable scenes. At the Sentosa Sandsation, BB-8 can be seen with his predecessors R2-D2 and C-3PO in an embrace of sorts.

2. Chewbacca & Han Solo

No pairing in the entire galaxy has better comradery than Han Solo and his Wookiee partner, Chewbacca. Though Han Solo may have sadly left us in the movie, you can still snap a picture with the pair at the sand exhibition.

3. First Order Stormtroopers

Stormtroopers are often the first casualties in a Star Wars battle. Here, they’re immortalised in a way that makes them look like Terracotta warriors.

Furthermore, with Captain Phasma leading them, this platoon of Stormtroopers will surely be one tough bunch to beat.

4. Jabba the Hutt

We’d expect that this notoriously slimy bad guy would most certainly ooze confidence as a vast sand sculpture too.

Jabba The Hutt will progressively be brought to life by renowned sculptor JOOheng, so definitely keep your eyes peeled for this exhibit.

5. Darth Vader

Darth Vader – the anti-hero with the most infamous redemption arc – will definitely be resplendent as a towering sand sculpture, thanks to his iconic mask.

However, this could be the only time you’ll see him lounging on the gentle dunes on Siloso beach so don’t miss your chance.

Sand-sculpting workshops & sand art

After admiring the beautiful sand art exhibits, you may be inspired to take part in sand-sculpting workshops yourself. You can expect to attend live demonstrations from the pro sand artists there, as long as you sign up in advance.

Those with extra time to spare can also consider attending the Sentosa International Sand Sculpting Competition, to watch the experts at work.

If all that isn’t enough, you can also grab your picnic mats and head to Palawan Green for free Star Wars movie screenings — only available on 31 Aug & 1, 14, and 15 Sep.

Visit the sand sculptures for free

The event will take place at Sentosa’s Siloso Beach from 31 Aug to 15 Sep, and lucky for Star Wars fan, is absolutely free.

Additionally, S’poreans can also enjoy free admission into the island when they enter via the Sentosa Express or their own personal vehicles.

Here are the details of the sand exhibit.
