Electric cars have been trying to start an evolution in Singapore since 2011, but to little avail.
This is presumably due to high costs and lack of charging stations, which may explain why these vehicles have not been a consumer’s favourite.
Hoping to see this trend grow, petrol company Royal Dutch Shell is launching their very first batch of electric vehicle charging stations in Southeast Asia.
And they can all be found in 10 petrol stations throughout Singapore.
According to CNA, Royal Dutch Shell is expected to roll out their new electrical vehicle charger service called Shell Recharge, by Oct 2019.
These charging stations will be available at:

For S$0.55/kWh, the electric vehicle chargers can charge a vehicle up to an additional 80% in 30 minutes.
Even though this is longer than typical petroleum pumping, at least with that extra few minutes, you get to do something good for the environment.
These chargers, according to Shell, are also compatible with most electrical vehicles in Singapore.
Despite Singapore being such a small island, it’s good to see improvement efforts are constantly being made as this country continues to strive for the better.
We hope to see more electric vehicle chargers being launched in the future as we continue our endeavours to reduce carbon footprint.
