2 New Covid-19 Cases & 4 Discharged On 26 Feb, 1 Of Those Recovered Is Bangladeshi Worker

MOH Announces 2 New Covid-19 Cases & 4 More Recoveries, Including Church Staff

After a Covid-19 case was retroactively found to be part of a church cluster yesterday, MOH announced that 2 new cases today (26 Feb) currently have no links to existing ones.

Both are Singaporeans with no recent travel history to China. There are now 93 confirmed cases.

Meanwhile 4 more cases have been discharged – Cases 46, 56, 59 and 73.

Case 93, a 38-year-old male, also tested positive today and is now at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

MOH is still trying to find out if either of them has any links to previous cases.

4 discharged cases include Bangladeshi worker

The following have been discharged on 26 Feb:

  • Case 46, a staff member at the Grace Assembly of God church
  • Case 56, a Bangladeshi worker from the Seletar Aerospace Heights construction site
  • Case 59 who works at a private hospital
  • Case 73, an RSAF regular who works at Tengah Air Base.

62 have recovered from Covid-13 – that’s at least two-thirds of all confirmed cases.

7 of the 31 in hospital remain in the Intensive Care Unite (ICU).

Recoveries outpacing new cases

While Singapore is still far from the clear in terms of Covid-19, the high number of recovery cases coupled with long isolation periods arguably make Singapore safer than many other countries.

It’s testament to both our healthcare system and the effort of authorities that what appears to be an outbreak is actually being contained.

Hopefully this pattern continues, so community spread stays low and eventually stops.
