A 21-year-old Singaporean woman has reportedly been killed in a motorcycle accident along Malaysia’s North-South Expressway.
The incident took place on Tuesday (10 Dec) at a stretch near Sedenak in the Kulai District of Johor, Malaysia’s The Star reported.
The Kulai District Police said it was alerted to the accident at about 9.15am on Tuesday.
The deceased was riding pillion on a motorcycle driven by her 23-year-old boyfriend, it added.
They were heading south, back to Singapore, when they lost control of the motorcycle at KM49.5 of the expressway, according to the New Straits Times (NST).
The motorcycle — a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10, said NST — crashed into the steel barrier along the road.
The woman died at the scene due to serious head injuries, the police said.
Her boyfriend, who is also a Singaporean, sustained leg injuries.
Both of them were sent to the Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim Hospital in Kulai.
The police urged members of the public who witnessed the accident to contact them at +060 017-7573507.
The latest fatality means at least three Singaporeans or Singapore permanent residents (PRs) have perished in accidents on the North-South Expressway in the last two months.
Just last month, a 44-year-old Singapore PR died when the vehicle she was in collided with another along the Yong Peng section of the expressway.
She was on the way to Kuala Lumpur to visit her relatives.
On 15 Oct, a 21-year-old Singaporean rugby player was killed in a motorcycle accident on the North-South Expressway in Negeri Sembilan state.
He was returning to Singapore when he lost control of his motorcycle.
