On 27 Feb, South Korea recorded the highest increase in the number of Covid-19 cases at 505.
In one day, the total number of cases soared by 571, totaling up to a whopping 2,337 cases.
South Korea currently holds the record for the highest number of Covid-19 cases after China, exceeding 2,000.
On the morning of 28 Feb, Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed 256 new Covid-19 cases, according to Channel NewsAsia (CNA).
The majority of the new patients are from Daegu, where Covid-19 is spreading most rapidly. Another 315 patients were tested positive in the evening.
This accumulates to 571 new cases in a day, exceeding the record of 505 set yesterday.
All eyes are on South Korea after the outbreak of Covid-19 in the country took a serious turn.
A 61-year-old member of the Shincheonji Church Of Jesus was infected and continued attending church services 4 times.
This sparked the spread of the virus among more than 210,000 churchgoers, currently going through medical checks.
According to Daegu’s mayor Kwon Young Jin, cases might soar to 3,000 as the screenings go on.
As of 28 Feb, K-POP band BTS cancelled their concerts in Seoul due to the severity of the outbreak, reports CNA.
Furthermore, it is reported that Hyundai Motor and Samsung Electronics also temporarily shut down their factories in light of employees confirmed to have the virus.
The relatively good news is, though the number of confirmed cases is inflating relatively quickly, the death toll remains at 13.
