Earlier today, South Korea confirmed 31 confirmed cases of the Covid-19 virus, bringing the country’s tally to 82.
Almost half of the country’s confirmed cases were linked to a 61-year-old woman who attended services at a church accused of being a cult.
On the same evening, South Korean authorities confirmed another 22 new cases, and the country’s first Covid-19 death.
At the time of this article, the exact cause of death is still being investigated, and not much information is known about the deceased.
With the 22 new confirmed cases, South Korea now has 104 Covid-19 patients — the most outside of mainland China.
Most of the cases are in the city of Daegu, where the 61-year-old woman had attended church services and visited a hospital prior to testing positive for the virus.
Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased.
We hope the Korean government will swiftly ringfence the spread, and will put in the appropriate measures and precautions to fight the infectious virus.
This is breaking news, we will update this article when more information is available.
