A steel support structure collapsed early Wednesday morning (25 Nov) in Samut Sakhon province, Thailand, leaving four workers dead and 10 others injured.
The incident occurred on Rama II Road during construction work on a concrete beam.
Thai news outlet MGR Online reported that the collapse involved a launching gantry crane and concrete segments.
At approximately 4 am, 39 workers were on-site when the structure suddenly gave way.
The foreman explained that workers were operating on an elevated platform and transitioning to another section when the collapse occurred without warning.
The disaster resulted in at least four fatalities, with several workers falling to their deaths, according to a Thairath report.
Others were reportedly trapped beneath the fallen beams.
Ten others sustained injuries and were promptly rushed to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, 25 workers were safely evacuated.
Local authorities and engineers are now inspecting the site to assess damage and determine the cause of the collapse.
Three mobile cranes have been prepared to assist with clearing the debris once assessments are complete.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the structure may have been unable to support the load, leading to its failure.
However, authorities are conducting further investigations to confirm the exact cause.
