Some couples take longer than others to tie the knot. For Workers’ Party (WP) chair Sylvia Lim and her partner Quah Kim Song, it took 12 years of dating before they decided to get married.
Ms Lim shared the happy news in an Instagram post. The couple will be tying the knot in January 2025.
“I have a good feeling about this marriage,” said Ms Lim.
According to the Straits Times (ST), 59-year-old Ms Lim first met her soon-to-be husband at a WP event in 2013.
72-year-old Mr Quah, a former national team footballer, serenaded her and asked her for a dance.
That first encounter soon blossomed into a relationship spanning nearly 12 years.
Mr Quah has two children in their 40s who are “comfortable” with the upcoming union having known Ms Lim for more than a decade, reported ST.
Unlike Ms Lim who has never been married, Mr Quah is a widower. The former football star lost his wife in 2007 to cancer.
Ms Lim told Channel NewsAsia (CNA) that the wedding will take place in a church with family in attendance.
Just this morning (25 Oct), the happy couple shared that they had received their custom-made wedding rings straight from Kyoto, Japan.
“Yes we will! Complete what we started almost 12 years ago,” said Ms Lim.
