Nature photography fanatics, here’s a photo exhibition that you can look forward to till 28 Feb for that spark of inspiration.

No, there won’t be a showcase of works by professional photographers, but the shots are National Geographic-worthy all the same.

The star photographer is none other than our current Speaker of Parliament, Mr Tan Chuan-Jin.

He also held his first reception for the exhibition on Sunday (10 Feb), following the launch in end-January.

In case you’re doubtful about his photography skills, he has been into photography ever since his army days — about 30 years ago.

In fact, his exhibition photos were so attractive that even opposition party members came by to support him.

Workers’ Party MPs also came to support him

These were all part of the exhibition which brought together various politicians from both the ruling and opposition parties at the reception on 10 Feb.

For instance, Workers’ Party (WP) MPs Low Thia Khiang and Sylvia Lim were present at the exhibition.

In addition, Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat also paid the exhibition a visit.

As Speaker of Parliament, Mr Tan is sure doing a great job uniting politicians from different political parties — not only in Parliament, but outside of work as well.

Uniting politicians aside, the photos are also to be exhibited for a good cause.

An effort to raise funds for charity

While the exhibition is held in support of Singapore’s Bicentennial Year, it also serves another meaningful purpose — that of helping others.

Uniting everyone for good cause

With the exhibition, Mr Tan hopes the proceeds can fund more programmes to reach out to those in need and transform more lives for the better.

In Mr Tan’s words,

If I can marry my hobby with doing good and contributing back to the society, that’s something small that I could do.

We have major respect for Mr Tan’s efforts as we’re sure his beautiful photos will bring people together for a good cause.

You may even be able to say hello to Mr Tan if you drop by on 20 and 25 Feb from 2pm onwards.
