Tanglin MindChamps pre-school is under investigation after 30 children and a staff developed symptoms of stomach flu.
The Ministry of Health (MOH), Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) and the National Environment Agency (NEA) conducted a joint inspection of the premises of MindChamps PreSchool @ Tanglin on Monday (25 Feb).
They have sent food and environmental samples for testing to investigate further.
MindChamps emphasised that they take the well-being of their students very seriously and have been working closely with the authorities.
2 out of the 31 people diagnosed were hospitalised but were discharged soon after.
Some of the affected children have recovered and returned to school while others are still recovering at home.
MindChamps has stepped up measures and implemented stomach flu prevention protocols such as the cleaning all surfaces daily.
Here are the symptoms to look out for if you suspect you or your loved ones have stomach flu.
People typically develop stomach flu within 24 to 72 hours of being exposed to the virus. Seek medical attention immediately if you experience any three of the above symptoms for more than two days.
The stomach flu virus is highly contagious. Follow these measures in order to recover fully.
If you spot these symptoms amongst your loved ones, ensure that they receive medical attention promptly.
Since late last year, many cases of stomach flu have surfaced, with some resulting in fatalities. This reiterates the need for food hygiene standards to be regularly and vigilantly monitored.
We hope that the children will recover fully and that such an incident will not occur again in the future.
