He recorded a slower version of the 2005 NDP song “Reach Out For The Skies”, which has close to 4,500 likes at the time of writing.

School memories learning the song & dance

Taufik accompanied the post with a caption teasing at many Singaporeans’ school memories from learning the iconic lyrics and dance moves.

Anyone remember this one? 🇸🇬❤

Sang this one with Rui En for NDP 2005 & paired it with a dance. Did you learn the dance in school? Anyone remember the moves? 🤣🤪

Happy National Day Singapore & Have a good long weekend everyone!

Peace & Love ✌❤ #fiquesings

While the cover isn’t as easy to dance along to, the R&B-esque style certainly hits viewers right in the feels. You can watch the full video here:

The new take on the memorable NDP song may be refreshing, but there’s no doubt that the original remains etched in Singaporeans’ memories.

Nostalgic for Taufik Batisah & Rui En circa 2005

For those who are still having trouble remembering the song, here’s a video that should help:

That was 14 years ago, mind you. Feel old yet?

Singaporeans who were in primary or secondary school back in 2005 will surely recall practising the dance moves in the leadup to their schools’ National Day celebrations.

Now that we’ve jogged your memory, we’re sure the song will be stuck in your head for a while. Why not sing it out as many times as you have to, and break out some of those old dance moves?
