Altercations between road users occur every now and then due to a variety of disagreements. Sometimes, these situations may even escalate into a full-blown fistfight, which was the case recently.
In a video that has now gone viral, a taxi driver was seen arguing with a personal mobility aid (PMA) user.
Halfway through the incident, the PMA rider brought a mop into the fight and traded blows with the taxi driver with the household appliance turned weapon.
On Tuesday (1 Aug), SG Road Vigilante (SGRV) Front Man posted a Facebook video showing the incident which apparently happened on the same day.
The video starts by showing the taxi driver and PMA rider already in an argument, with several passers-by standing nearby.
In the background, a man explained that the driver had probably reversed his vehicle into the rider’s PMA while attempting to park.
Halfway through the video, the PMA rider storms away before returning with a mop in hand.
As the taxi driver shouts at him, the PMA user struck the taxi driver several times with the mop.
The driver retaliated by wrestling the mop away from the PMA user before landing a strike to the latter’s head.
Both individuals end up tussling on the ground, punching each other in quick succession.
The taxi driver seemingly got the better of the PMA rider, striking him several times on the head.
A man and woman — presumably passers-by — then rush over, attempting to break the duo up. They somehow managed to pull them away and the two men soon gather themselves to their feet.
Even though the two passers-by managed to break the fight up, the pair were still shouting at each other as the video came to an end.
The video has since gone viral, with many calling the men out for fighting in a public area.
One user said the scuffle could have led to severe injuries, especially for the PMA rider who suffered multiple strikes to his head.
Some also criticised other passers-by for simply standing aside without breaking up the fight earlier.
Others hoped that the police eventually intervened in the matter.
It’s indeed concerning to see such violent confrontations happening in Singapore. We hope both parties eventually find an amicable solution to their differences.
