On Sunday (28 July) evening, a teenager in Malaysia allegedly set his family’s house on fire.
The blaze quickly spread, affecting two neighbouring houses, one car, and two motorcycles, Sin Chew Daily reported.
Local residents claimed the teen started the fire after an argument with his family.
However, the police have yet to release any official details about the incident to the media.
Kedah Fire and Rescue Department Second Zone Operations Group Director Johari Bar Azwar said they received a report at about 10.02pm on Sunday and promptly sent personnel to extinguish the fire.
Upon arrival, they found three semi-permanent houses ablaze.
“Two houses were 70% destroyed, while another house was only 5% burnt,” stated Mr Johari, according to Berita Harian.
A Proton Wira car and two motorcycles were also damaged in the fire.
Two fire teams and volunteer fire brigades from four towns worked to extinguish the fire.
Fortunately, there were no victims at the scene.
According to Mr Johari, it only took the firefighters 10 minutes to control the blaze.
However, they only left the place after midnight to ensure there were no “tinders” left.
Currently, the police are awaiting the investigation report from the Fire Department’s Scientific Forensics Team to confirm the cause of the fire, including whether any malicious human sabotage was involved, wrote Sin Chew Daily.
