Tesla driver in Thailand brake checks & swerves across highway in road rage incident

A Tesla driver scared other drivers on a highway in Thailand when he brake-checked and swerved across multiple lanes repeatedly after he was honked at.

According to a dashcam footage shared on Facebook, the incident occurred on Wednesday last week (13 Nov) at around 9.30pm.

Crazed driving after getting honked at

The incident began when the white Tesla on the left lane abruptly tried to merge into the second lane. This caused the camcar to step on the brakes and quickly turn the vehicle in order to avoid a collision.

In the process, the camcar also honked at the Tesla.

Immediately following this interaction, the Tesla accelerated and moved right in front of the camcar. Once the camcar began to advance again, the Tesla repeatedly stepped on the brakes.

As the Tesla continued to brake check her, the woman driving the camcar could be heard audibly expressing her confusion at this behaviour.

She had to slow down to a crawl on the highway as the Tesla began to swerve across multiple lanes on the highway.

At one point, the Tesla stopped completely and blocked an entire lane of traffic.

It then headed to the left-most lane where it came to a complete stop once again. The woman, wary of the Tesla driver’s erratic behaviour, slowly inched her way forward.

But as soon as she got close to the Tesla, the car would start up again. Each time she tried to get past the Tesla, it would accelerate as if the driver wanted to t-bone her.

Eventually, the Tesla driver seemed to have had enough and let her go. He accelerated and nearly side-swiped her before speeding off.

Car seized & charges handed out

According to Khaosod, the Tesla driver has since turned himself in. The man has been charged with reckless driving.

Additionally, the white Tesla has also been seized by authorities. The man reportedly said the vehicle wasn’t his and that it belonged to a business partner.

He admitted to the wrongdoing and apologised to the woman he had harassed on the road.

He claims that he was arguing with his girlfriend, who was in the car with him, over the directions given by the car’s GPS before the incident. When he heard the honk, he was seized with a sudden fit of rage and decided to make his point.

Although he repeatedly harassed the camcar driver, he said he wasn’t angry that she honked at him or bore her any ill-will.

He also added that he suffered a lot as a result of his antics, saying that he had lost his appetite and was unable to sleep. Furthermore, his parents and family have received multiple hateful calls due to this incident.

A trial is currently underway, according to Khaosod.
