10 Heartwarming Thai Cave Rescue Reactions, From Donald Trump To Soccer Players

Social Media Reacts To Successful Thai Cave Rescue

The world rejoiced as news broke that all 13 trapped in Tham Luang cave have been successfully rescued.

It has nearly been 3 weeks since the 12 boys, along with their football coach were stuck in the flooding cave, as a result of torrential rain.

Needless to say, social media was overwhelmed with reactions to the successful operation.

Without further ado, here’s our compilation of the best Thai cave rescue reactions.

1. Paul Pogba

It may be a sheer coincidence that France’s semi-final match against Belgium kicked-off just hours after the announcement of the successful rescue.

Regardless, French soccer player Paul Pogba dedicated France’s victory to the boys, praising their strength and resilience.

2. Mesut Ozil

The king of assists from Germany’s World Cup team couldn’t help but thank the rescuers for assisting in the rescue operation too.

3. Frank Lampard (Derby County FC)

Frank Lampard, newly appointed manager of Derby County Football Club thanked the valiant rescue effort.

He also paid tribute to Saman Kunan, an ex Thai Navy who tragically lost his life during the rescue.

4. Barcelona FC

We understand that the boys might feel a tad bit disappointed to find that they are unlikely to accept FIFA’s offer of attending the World Cup Finals on 15 Jul.

But fret not boys.

Barcelona Football Club have extended an invitation for the team to take part in an exclusive tournament next year.

5. Manchester United FC

Manchester United also offered the team and the rescuers involved a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit the Theater of Dreams.

Pretty cool if you ask us.

Members of the football world weren’t the only ones who have had their say.

6. Elon Musk

Elon Musk, who personally flew over to help with the rescue efforts, also joined in the celebration.

To help with the recovery mission, Elon Musk and his team brought along their latest invention — a mini submarine capable of storing air that would allow the boys who have no prior experience of swimming to escape the flooded cave.

However, we didn’t get to see it at work as it was deemed impractical for the rescue operation.

7. Donald Trump

Tweeter-in-Chief might be busy with the NATO summit.

But that didn’t stop him from congratulating the rescuers on their successful mission.

8. Theresa May

Theresa May might be facing a crisis after the recent resignation of two of her senior ministers.

But I guess we can all agree that no crisis is bigger than being stuck in near darkness for more than two weeks.

In any case, Mrs May was delighted that all 13 were successfully rescued and gave thanks to the rescuers involved.

9. Jeremy Corbyn

Leaders of the Conservative and Labor parties in Britain hardly see eye to eye.

As such, it is especially heartening to see them both singing to the same tune with regard to this miraculous rescue.

10. Lee Hsien Loong

Last but certainly not least, our very own PM Lee also gave praise to the rescuers.

Earlier, PM Lee wrote to the Thai PM offering Singapore’s assistance with the rescue mission.

Although there wasn’t any follow up on the matter, PM Lee was happy to see all 13 freed from the cave.

Lessons learnt

Even though all 12 boys along with their coach were fortunate enough to get out of the cave alive, there are certainly lessons to be learnt from this incident.

For starters, stopping visitors from entering the cave on days when bad weather is to be expected doesn’t sound too far-fetched to us.

Nonetheless, we are glad that all 13 members of the Wild Boar team got out alive, without any major health issues.

Lastly, our heartfelt condolences go out to the family of Saman Kunan, who volunteered bravely for the mission, but made the ultimate sacrifice.

Let’s hope that this never happens again.
