TheSmartLocal Named Media Brand Of The Year At Mumbrella Asia Awards

TheSmartLocal Wins Big At Mumbrella Asia Awards

Homegrown publisher TheSmartLocal (TSL) did Singapore proud at this year’s Mumbrella Asia Awards, clinching the “Media Brand of the Year” title.

The local start-up edged out billion-dollar media companies like VICE and CNBC, as well as Asian giant South China Morning Post (SCMP) from Hong Kong. SCMP received a high commendation in the same category.

Here’s some of the client work TheSmartLocal produced over the judging period.

Team Singapore

It was a good night for Singapore’s media scene, with wins in several categories. In all, Singaporean firms picked up 24 awards — more than half the number given out.

Some of the highlights include DDB Singapore winning Creative Agency of the year and PHD Singapore winning best use of programmatic. AKA Asia (Singapore)’s campaign for Jetstar Asia was also recognised for effectively appealing to millennials.

The Mumbrella Asia Awards 2018

Mars’ vice-president of marketing for Asia, the Middle East and Africa, Nicole McMillan chaired this year’s judging panel. It consisted of two rounds of judging, with all nominees having to go through a live presentation in the second round to ensure the judging process was robust and credible.

The annual Mumbrella Asia Awards were presented at the InterContinental Hotel Singapore on Thursday (15 Nov). Now in its 5th year, the awards honour media brands, publishers, as well as PR and advertising agencies by championing great work in the media industry.
