On Friday (25 Oct), a Joo Chiat resident took to her Facebook to share her harrowing experience of getting threatened by a driver who parked his van “too close” to her house.
Ms Krishnan explained that when she returned home last Friday (25 Oct) night, she found a white van blocking her house and that of her neighbour. She also accused the driver of crushing one of her plants.
Ms Krishnan subsequently contacted the van’s rental company, which told her that they would contact the driver to move the vehicle.
About 40 minutes later, at around 11pm, Ms Krishnan reportedly heard a “violent explosive bang” on her front door.
Upon opening the door, she was greeted by an “irate man” who angrily shouted:
Anyone can f**king park on this street.
Ms Krishnan said she threatened to call the police, but the man seemed unfazed and continued yelling at her, even taunting her to contact the authorities.
He repeated that anyone can park at the spot before walking off.
When Ms Krishnan criticised him for banging on her door and shouting abuse, the man allegedly stormed back and came within close proximity of her.
Recalling the scene, Ms Krishnan claimed the man was about 1cm away from her and appeared “almost as if he was about to physically assault her (me) or worse.”
The man then went on to claim that everyone “on the f**king street” had lodged complaints against him.
However, Ms Krishnan noted that she had never seen him despite living in the area for seven years.
As Ms Krishnan took out her phone to record the interaction, the man retreated to his van and quickly left the premises.
Ms Krishnan claimed that she had lodged a police report
In her post, she claimed she was advised to file a Magistrate’s Complaint under the Protection from Harassment Act (POHA).
In response to MS News‘ queries, Ms Krishnan said she was alone at home with her two children and helper when the incident happened.
She explained that her plant was placed on a drainage kerb and that the van ended up crushing the plant as it was parked within “close proximity” of her house, with half the vehicle on the said kerb.
Ms Krishnan also shared that she had a panic attack during the incident, which got worse when the man came close to her.
She added that she was alone with her helper and two children — including her newborn — when the incident happened.
