Relationships can get messy, especially when an ex gets involved.
Unfortunately for this young fellow, things literally turned into a bloody mess when he was allegedly ambushed by his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, and his friends in Toa Payoh on Wednesday (27 May) night, reported Shin Min Daily.
Apparently, the 20-year-old man left his house to meet his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, in an attempt to talk it out and reconcile their differences.
He told his family that he was going downstairs to buy drinks, reports The New Paper (TNP).
He headed to the meeting at Block 106 Toa Payoh Lorong 1, around 5.45pm.
The victim’s 24-year-old brother explained that he soon realised the meeting was a set up when 4 or 5 men ambushed him.
He suffered deep slashes to the arms and forehead, with one slash running 40cm long, wrote Shin Min Daily.
Apparently, he used his arms to cover his head and face as he was being slashed.
He reportedly left blood trails of 20-30m long along the void deck and second storey staircase of Block 106.
The man returned home 15 minutes after setting out, covered in blood.
His father told Shin Min Daily that his son initially declined to reveal how he got hurt, but admitted that it was his girlfriend’s ex after being pressed.
He wrapped his son’s arm in a towel to stop the bleeding, and took him – still conscious – to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
His left arm suffered a slash that left his wrist bone exposed, and the victim required surgery, reports TNP.
According to TNP, the victim’s father apparently claims that the assailant – the girlfriend’s ex – was just released from prison.
Preliminary investigations by the police state that the victim recognised one of his assailants. It is not known whether this refers to his girlfriend’s ex.
8 police cars and 2 police dogs were dispatched to the scene, but according to TNP, the suspects are all still at large.
It is unfortunate that a meeting meant to reconcile differences landed the victim in a bloody mess. We do hope that the suspects will be caught soon, so that police can get to the bottom of this.
Relationships may be a hassle to some, but they’re never worth bloodshed.
