Apparently, Deadline received this statement directly from Tom Hanks, confirming that he and his wife both tested positive for Covid-19.

Here’s the statement in full:

Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.

Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?

We’ll keep the world posted and updated.

Take care of yourselves!

It seems like the Hanks are keeping calm amid the chaos, and following the relevant protocol.

We certainly hope everything goes smoothly for them.

Warner Bros proceeding with contact tracing

The movie’s production company, Warner Bros, also released a statement regarding Mr Hanks’ infection.

The statement wrote,

We are working closely with the appropriate Australian health agencies to identify and contact anyone who may have come in direct contact with the individual.

They assured readers that they prioritised their employees’ safety and would be taking precautions on set.

You can read it in full here on Deadline’s website.

First 2 famous people to test positive

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are the first famous individuals to test positive for Covid-19.

Seeing as they’re both wildly popular Hollywood stars, we hope their infection doesn’t stir too much panic.

We should remain calm, as they are, and tackle Covid-19 one step at a time.

It’s just been classified as a pandemic, so it’s all the more important that we keep vigilant and carry on taking the necessary precautions to keep each other safe and healthy.

MS News wishes the Hanks’ a speedy recovery.
