A tour bus collided with a trailer lorry yesterday afternoon (24 Oct) on the North-South Expressway near Taiping, Malaysia, resulting in the death of one Japanese tourist.
According to 8world News, the incident occurred around 1pm.
Free Malaysia Today reported that the crash left all 13 occupants of the bus injured.
The bus was carrying 11 Japanese tourists, along with a tour guide and the driver.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department’s Assistant Director confirmed that eight of the tourists were women.
The collision caused significant damage to the front of the bus, completely dislodging its windshield.
Multiple rescue vehicles were dispatched to the scene to provide assistance.
Upon arrival, emergency services assisted the injured passengers off the bus, providing first aid before transporting four of them to the hospital using an emergency medical rescue vehicle.
The remaining passengers were taken to Taiping Hospital by ambulance.
On Friday (25 Oct), police confirmed that one of the Japanese tourists had tragically succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
Further details about the condition of the other passengers will be shared in a subsequent statement from the authorities.
