Russian diplomats are currently making arrangements to repatriate her body to her family.

Not the first photo-related train accident

This tragic incident is not the first time tourists have lost their lives while taking selfies near trains in Sri Lanka.

According to The Straits Times, two women were killed in December last year after being struck by a train while posing for photos on the train tracks.

A similar accident occurred in Taiwan on 20 Jan, when a tourist from the Philippines posing for a photo near railway tracks was struck by a passing train.

The impact knocked her to the ground, leaving her with multiple injuries, though none were life-threatening.
