On Wednesday (21 June), a 31-year-old traffic police officer collided with a 58-year-old man in Hougang Avenue 3.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) conveyed the officer and the man to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where the latter later died.
Investigations are ongoing.
According to The Straits Times (ST), the accident occurred on 21 June along the junction of Hougang Avenue 3 and Kim Chuan Road.
Pictures of the aftermath of the collision have begun circulating on social media.
In the first image, a traffic police officer lies down on the kerb by the side of the road with one hand on his chest.
A traffic police motorcycle is also visible, lying in a tilted position in the middle of the street. The vehicle’s blue and red lights are flashing.
The second image shows a male pedestrian similarly laid out flat on the grass, with two men standing beside him.
Speaking to ST, police confirmed they were alerted to the accident at the junction of Hougang Avenue 3 and Kim Chuan Road at around 5.30pm.
In addition, SCDF told MS News they received an alert regarding the collision at 5.40pm. They dispatched two ambulances to the scene and conveyed two people to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
The police added that the male officer was conscious at the time of transportation while the pedestrian was unconscious. He later passed away in hospital.
Investigations are ongoing.
