S’poreans Can Travel To China For Business & Official Purposes In Early June Via “Fast Lane”

Singapore & China To Launch “Fast Lane” In Early June For Essential Travel

As ‘Circuit Breaker’ ends, things are looking up for Singapore’s gradual re-opening.

Taking one major step forward together, Singapore and China see eye to eye in having a “fast lane” launched for essential travel.

Set to be launched in June, this “fast lane” will allow residents to travel only for business and official purposes, reports Channel NewsAsia (CNA).

Singaporeans can expect the arrangement to apply to these provinces for now:

  • Shanghai
  • Tianjin
  • Chongqing
  • Guangdong
  • Jiangsu
  • Zhejiang.

“Fast lane” travel to China will gradually expand to other provinces

According to CNA, the “fast lane” arrangement must ensure that stringent Covid-19 preventive and control measures are in place.

For now, Singaporeans can attend to business in China in the aforementioned 6 provinces. But, Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs is looking to slowly expand to other places as well.

The Straits Times reports that this is first time Singapore has agreed to a “green lane” arrangement with another country.

“The arrangement will be gradually expanded to the other Chinese provinces and municipalities. Both sides agreed to explore the increase of air links between the two countries for the fast lane,” MFA said.

Singapore will exit ‘Circuit Breaker’ period on 1 Jun

‘Circuit Breaker’ is ending in 2 days. This will mean an easing of strict Covid-19 measures placed over the last 2 months, with essential travels resuming.

Having green lane arrangements such as this one, would surely cater well to businesses that need their employees to travel around the region.

As both Singapore and China are strengthening their partnership to enhance Covid-19 prevention and national development, we must also do our part and be socially responsible. Do take extra precaution when travelling, and always sanitise your hands.
