On Tuesday (30 July), at around 8am, the engine of a ready-mix cement truck caught fire along Corporation Road towards the Pan Expressway (PIE).
The incident occurred under an overhead bridge next to Block 209 Boon Lay Point.
Black smoke filled the air as the traffic on the other side of the road continued to move.
According to Lianhe Zaobao, five firefighters were spotted investigating the cause of the fire after the fire had been put out.
The front of the cement truck had been severely burned. Even the overhead bridge above the cement mixer truck was also visibly blackened.
A nearby witness told the Chinese paper that the driver of the truck was able to escape in time, avoiding any injuries.
Due to the incident, the two lanes of the road where the incident occurred were blocked, causing many vehicles to take detours. Law enforcement officers were also seen directing traffic and placing traffic cones to warn drivers.
The cause of the fire remains unknown and police are investigating.
In response to MS News‘ queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that they were alerted to the fire along Corporation Road at around 8.05am.
SCDF arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire using a water jet. There were no reported injuries.
