A truck at Aljunied Road collided with a bus, which in turn ran over the road divider and hit a van.
The impact on the bus from the truck caused the driver to fall out of his seat, losing control of the vehicle.
The bus then hit a van on the other side of the road before coming to a stop.
A total of 3 people were sent to Raffles Hospital.
The incident took place at around 2.13pm on Friday (4 Jun) at the junction of Mattar Road and Aljunied Road.
In a clip shared by SG Road Vigilante, a bus was turning right when a concrete truck sped straight on the same road.
In doing so, the truck collided with the bus’s left side.
The impact shattered the bus’ windows and a part of the truck fell out as well.
Additionally, the bus captain was flung off his seat, causing the bus to lose control and veer over the road divider into a van on the other side of the road.
The van suffered some damage to its right side, but the driver was able to exit the vehicle mostly unharmed.
Thankfully, the van appeared to stop the bus’s trajectory somewhat and it eventually came to a stop.
SCDF told MS News that 3 people were taken to Raffles Hospital.
They were alerted to a road traffic accident at the junction of Mattar Road and Aljunied Road at about 2.15pm.
Considering the bus was likely carrying some passengers, we’re relieved to hear that not many had to be conveyed to hospital.
The signal for the opposite lane was red at the time, meaning it’s unlikely that the truck had the right of way.
Given their size, heavy vehicles need to be even more aware of traffic rules and abide by them so as to make the roads safe.
Hopefully those conveyed to hospital didn’t suffer any major injuries.
