Parents Share Painful Truths About Marriage & Children In Poignant Post By Renowned M’sian Hospital

Hospital Shares Problems Faced By Working Parents, Says It’s Okay To Seek Help

Being a parent is not easy. In today’s society, many parents now have to juggle working and raising children, which can lead to a strain on their mental health and even their marriage.

Sunway Medical Centre, a renowned hospital in Malaysia, acknowledged this problem is affecting many and showed how it can be resolved.

Children are bundles of joy and stress in marriage

The story starts off with 2 parents – Yen Ling and Mun Wei – talking about their children.

Their youngest child is only 9 months old, so she “keeps [them] awake with her cries”. Their elder son is 5 years old and is “as naughty as a monkey”.

While many of around them say children are bundles of joy, Mun Wei is not so sure.

He shares his honest take instead, referring to a baby as “a bundle of stress”.

Struggling to balance work and parenting

While they might not see eye-to-eye on their children, they face the same issue — being a working parent is difficult.

The money they earn goes to raising their kids and never seems to be enough.

Strain on relationship

Home doesn’t seem so sweet anymore too because of stress. Worse still, Mun Wei feels like the romance in their relationship is gone.

As time passes, Yen Ling and Mun Wei are starting to see cracks in their relationship. To her, Mun Wei seems indifferent and to him, Yen Ling is being naggy.

But the need to protect the family perhaps forces them to keep all these thoughts and feelings to themselves.

No more “me time”

Yen Ling feels like she doesn’t get help with the ‘workload’ at home.

She argues that Mun Wei was on his phone, but he says it’s for work.

Both parents are struggling to find ‘me time’ for themselves. Time spent relaxing seems to come at the expense of helping out at home.

Frustrated, the argument turns hurtful.

Mun Wei consults psychologist

Feeling “lost and empty”, Mun Wei is unsure of how to move forward. Thus, he consults his psychologist for help.

Mun Wei reaches out to Yen Ling with an apology. They work together to resolve their misunderstandings and issues.

Eventually, they empathise with each other.

They agree to work hand-in-hand to maintain a happy family.

Healthy communication is important

Many of the arguments Yen Ling and Mun Wei had arose due to unhealthy methods of communication.

Thus, it is crucial to ensure that communication is healthy.

Instead of bottling everything up, it’s better to share your feelings with your partner.

The post may come from a Malaysian hospital, but the message is universal — seeking help if you need to is totally fine.

MS News wishes all parents all the best on their journey of raising children. It may not be easy, but at least you’ll have each other.
