If there’s one thing all Singaporeans love, it’s freebies. So when Ben & Jerry’s held their iconic Free Cone Day at their VivoCity outlet yesterday (3 Apr), there’s no surprise that a long queue formed.
And by Singapore standards, a queue isn’t long enough until it stretches across a venue’s length.
That was exactly what happened when Facebook user Tun Tun visited the mall recently.
No one can say no to free ice cream in Singapore’s almost constantly humid weather.
Free ice cream from famous brand Ben & Jerry’s, no less, is bound to attract large crowds.
That indeed was the case at the brand’s outlet at VivoCity on Monday (3 Apr).
When Facebook user Tun Tun walked past the store, they spotted a queue starting at the outlet on the second floor.
The video then panned all the way to the other end of the same floor, where the queue seemed to stretch endlessly.
While long lines for freebies aren’t rare in Singapore, this one appears to be for good reason.
Ben & Jerry’s recently announced the return of their iconic Free Cone Day after a four-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to a media release, customers could choose from a variety of flavours including:
The giveaway lasted from 12pm to 8pm, though some customers claimed they were unable to join the queue when they arrived.
Sadly, yesterday was the only chance to get the free cone. But if you’d like to have a tase of the ice cream that so many people were willing to queue for, you can visit Ben & Jerry’s only outlet in Singapore here:
Ben & Jerry’s @ VivoCity
Address: 1 HarbourFront Walk, #02-K1, Singapore 098585
Opening hours: Mon 12pm-8pm, Tues-Sun 12pm-10pm
Nearest MRT: HarbourFront Station
With the weather in Singapore set to get warmer in the first half of this month, there’s always an excuse to treat yourself to some ice cream, whether it’s free or not.
Of course, if you’re hoping to get some for free, maybe wait for the next Free Cone Day next year and be quick to be there for it.
Otherwise, let’s hope some other store decides to give out free ice cream sometime soon.
