Shoppers Need To Wear Masks At S’pore Supermarkets, Malls & Convenience Stores From 12 Apr

Shoppers Not Wearing Masks Will Be Refused Entry At Supermarkets & Malls In Singapore

If you’ve yet to make wearing masks a habit when going out, that’s probably not the wisest choice now.

From Sunday (12 Apr), you are required to wear a mask when you’re visiting:

  • Supermarkets
  • Convenience stores
  • Pharmacies
  • Shopping malls.

Authorities will send you in the opposite direction if you’re caught not wearing one when trying to enter.

Shopping advice apart from wearing masks

In a media release from Enterprise Singapore (ESG) and Singapore Tourism Board (STB) on Saturday (11 Apr), wearing masks are now mandatory if you’re visiting the aforementioned retail premises.

This is so that everyone can protect the health and well-being of themselves, and of other patrons and staff too.

Following this tightened requirement, here are some recommendations by ESG and STB on how to keep safe:

  • Visit supermarkets, convenience stores and pharmacies on weekdays or during non-peak hours on weekends
  • Buy your things quickly instead of staying around longer than you should
  • Try not to bring family members along to supermarkets, especially the young and elderly
  • Visit other outlets if your frequented ones are congested.

In case you didn’t know, you can now virtually monitor crowd levels in supermarkets and shopping malls using Space Out website here.

Being socially responsible protects everyone, not just yourself

Since authorities have observed many people aren’t taking social distancing as seriously, it’s no surprise that a new round of stricter rules are being implemented.

They’re stepping up enforcement efforts, which means we should also do more by practising social distancing and being socially responsible.

If you lack masks, do remember you can collect reusable ones from your nearest Community Clubs (CCs). Tomorrow is the last day, so you better hurry.
