A woman who attempted to escort a drunk friend home ended up violently attacked by two men, leaving her with three misplaced teeth.
The incident occurred at around 3.30am on 15 Oct outside Suntec City.
According to Shin Min Daily News, the victim arrived at a nearby nightclub at midnight that day for a female friend’s birthday party.
At around 3am, the birthday girl, who had gotten drunk, asked the victim to take her home since they lived in the same condominium complex. The woman agreed.
On a road outside Suntec City, the victim got into a taxi with her friend to return home.
However, a man then opened the door and tried to take her friend away.
The victim said the men involved were friends of the birthday girl and had been at the party too. Though she was not acquainted with them, she had met them once before the incident.
When the woman insisted on taking her friend home, the man gave an implied threat of hitting her by saying he would take off his ring.
Subsequently, he went ahead with his threat, reportedly punching the victim several times in the forehead, right temple, and the back of her head.
After the initial attack, another man approached them to check on whether the birthday girl was hurt.
He then punched the victim in the face and mouth four to five times. The beating left her with three misplaced teeth and a mouth full of blood.
The two men then pulled her friend away with them.
Following the incident, the taxi driver assisted her with calling the police. She then went to the hospital for treatment.
The police told MS News that they received a call for assistance at 7 Temasek Boulevard.
They arrested a 22-year-old man for breach of peace.
He and two other men are also assisting in the ongoing investigation for voluntarily causing hurt.
They added that a 24-year-old woman received minor injuries but refused to go to the hospital.
