Woman blocks car at JB checkpoint, lets 2 S’pore-registered vehicles cut queue

Woman blocks car at JB checkpoint to let Singapore-registered vehicles cut queue

On Thursday (31 Oct), a woman was caught blocking a car at the Johor Bahru checkpoint to let two Singapore-registered vehicles cut the queue.

A six-second video and two photos were posted on Facebook from the perspective of the camcar that the the woman had blocked.

In the video, the woman is seen in front of the camcar, with her back turned to the camera, refusing to move despite the driver honking.

As she did this, one van cut the queue while she waved for another to move forward.

Based on the photos, the vehicles that cut the line travel between Singapore and Malaysia and belong to a transportation company in Singapore.

Woman tried to change lanes without signaling

According to a China Press report, the incident occurred around 9.10pm, when the camcar’s driver was about to enter Singapore.

The driver noted that since it was a public holiday, there was a lot of traffic.

His attention was on the road ahead when he suddenly saw the woman beside her car, cursing before blocking his vehicle and waving to let two vehicles cut into his lane.

“The woman stopped there for about 30 seconds and ignored my horn. Later, other vehicles passed my car from behind and also honked,” the driver said.

He noted that before the incident, the car the woman was riding in tried to change lanes without turning on the signal light.

Unfortunately, the driver was too busy keeping up with the traffic so he did not notice which vehicle the woman got on when she left.

Nonetheless, he filed a report to the Malaysian Land Transport Department online the following day and provided all the information to the police.

He said he posted the footage on social media to remind drivers, “especially those in Singapore”, to signal if they want to change lanes.

“Many drivers are actually willing to give way,” he said, adding that the woman’s actions were very dangerous and could have caused an accident had he not braked in time.

Woman allegedly not a passenger of either van

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the transportation company claimed that the woman in the video was not their passenger and he was unaware of the incident.

They said the woman had a child in her car and angrily stood on the road, blocking other vehicles.

When their company’s car passed by, she waved for them to pass.

On the other hand, JB South District Police Chief Rabu confirmed that the incident occurred at the Sultan Iskandar Building.

He said they have not received any report so far, but are investigating the incident.
