A mother and son in Malaysia are believed to have died from food poisoning after attending a wedding reception in the city Tawao last Saturday (9 Aug).
Recounting the incident, 43-year-old Masran Mohd Amin said his wife, Nazuah Pili, 36, and their eldest child, Mohd Amran, 9, began vomiting and suffering from severe diarrhoea hours after returning home from the wedding.

The pair subsequently went unconscious.
When he returned from work, Mr Masran found his wife and son lying on a mattress in the living room.
At first, Mr Masran did not suspect anything amiss.
However, he then saw his wife constantly rushing to the bathroom, vomiting, before lying down weakly.
“I tried to help her when I noticed stool stains on her sarong before she went back to clean herself. And then I saw Abang (Mohd Amran) lying there, completely still,” he explained.
Mr Masran added that he too suffered vomiting and stomach pain after eating the same wedding food his wife had brought home, reports Malaysian news outlet Harian Metro.
Following an autopsy procedure, Mr Masran’s wife and son were buried in a cemetery on Tuesday (12 Aug) night.
Meanwhile, the couple’s two younger children — Naziah Insyirah, 6, and Mohd Azran, 18 months — were taken to a nearby health clinic where they underwent treatment.
Tawao deputy district police chief Superintendent Champin Piuh confirmed receiving a report on the incident.
The case has been classified as “sudden death”. There were no signs of injury on the victims’ bodies, he said.
Champin also said that the Malaysian health ministry is investigating the case of alleged food poisoning and is seeking statements from other witnesses who attended the feast.
