A 69-year-old woman was left with serious head and facial fractures after she was struck by a car in Sengkang and trapped underneath it for several minutes.
The driver, a 64-year-old electrician, later pleaded guilty to negligent driving, reports Shin Min Daily News.
The accident occurred on 9 May 2022, at 6.15pm, at the service road near Block 290A, Compassvale Crescent.
Electrician Li Shaoguang (name transliterated) had just finished delivering a television to a nearby flat.
About five minutes after leaving, he was driving along the service road when he failed to notice the victim crossing at a right-turn junction.

His car hit her, causing her to fall backwards and pinning her lower body and legs beneath the vehicle.
A passer-by immediately called for an ambulance, while Li used a car jack in an attempt to lift the car and free her.
The woman was rushed to Changi General Hospital, where she underwent two operations for skull and facial fractures.
She was then placed on 193 days of medical leave.
According to her daughter, she has since lost her job as she can no longer walk long distances and now requires day care support.

The daughter also told the court that her mother developed cognitive impairment after the accident, though doctors assessed that the condition was not permanent.
In court, the prosecution said Li’s offence arose purely from inattention, as he was not speeding and had not committed other traffic violations.
Nonetheless, they argued the case involved serious harm and recommended a sentence of one to two months’ imprisonment, along with a five-year revocation of all driving licences.
Li’s defence lawyer pointed out that the electrician had 45 years of driving experience, with only minor traffic offences on record. At the time of the accident, he had been driving slowly at 10 to 20 km/h.
The defence urged the judge to impose only a fine. Sentencing will be delivered on 9 Sept.
